You Better Not

Cuban shortstop Adeiny Hechevarria defected from his home country back in July and has apparently gotten a ton of attention from the New York Yankees, according to the New York Post. So the Yanks are considered the frontrunners for the young man. Hechevarria has apparently worked out for teams in the Dominican Republic and visited the Yankees complex there last week. One scout compared the shortstop's body to Alfonso Soriano's.(notes) If the Yankees sign him, he may become the replacement for Robinson Cano(notes) at second base. Cano's contract runs out at the end of 2011, though there is a $14 million option for 2012 and a $15 million option for 2013.

I started reading this and i was fine with it. If the Yankees want to sign a new Cuban kid that's cool, those Cuban's know how to play baseball. After growing up hitting pebbles with a stick, and using paper towels for gloves, American baseball is like a walk in the park for them. He has even been compared to Alfonso Soriano, sweet. Then i read the next sentence. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?! Cano is one of the best players they have, and he's still young and his numbers seem to improve every season. I've never seen anyone play a smoother second base. Not to mention hes my favorite player. And you just want to replace him with some queer named Adeiny Hechevarria. I'm pretty sure that guy is a cook where i work. This would be one of the worst moves they could make, so you better not do it, Steinbrenner, you better not!
