"Two-time national championship and Hall of Fame coach Jim Calhoun will return to Connecticut for his 25th season. He agreed to a four-year contract extension with the school on Thursday.Calhoun, who will turn 68 in May, has been in negotiations with Connecticut over the past year. His current contract expires on June 30. Calhoun is expected to sign the new contract within the next few weeks."
Ol' Jim is not ready to quit. I have to admit i like the dedication this man has to the Uconn program. He still has some fight left in him i guess. Maybe im still a little bitter from the poor performance the team put up this year, but there's a couple problems i have with this. This has potential to becoming like the Brett Favre debocle thats been going on for the past 37 years, or so. Let me point out the parallels: 1. Theyre both old. 2. Both very successful, but don't seem to know when enough is enough. Okay, maybe the Brett Favre situation is completely different because Calhoun hasn't said he's going to retire 8 times, and then come back each time. And Calhoun's a coach not a player. But i don't want to see another sports great go down like that. Just some words of advice when you read this later, after your bath and before your midnight snack, don't overstay your welcome, Jim. Maybe think about hangin up the old whistle soon and startin a family, buy a house out in the country, write a few novels maybe. As for now, good luck to you in the upcoming seasons, i guess (seriously, good luck, i better not see any repeats of this past season, my heart cant take it).
