Karl Malone and Scottie Pippen will follow their comrades into the Naismith Hall of Fame. A year after John Stockton and Michael Jordan were enshrined, the second-leading scorer in NBA history and the second-leading scorer in Chicago Bulls franchise history have been elected, according to a report in The Star-Ledger of Newark. "Karl Malone deserves it," said Utah Jazz coach and 2009 inductee Jerry Sloan, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. "He worked every day as hard as any player you can have work, and when the games started he laid it out there on the line." Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss is also Hall of Fame bound, multiple sources within the organization told ESPNLosAngeles.com's Arash Markazi.
I'm not just making this post because I own a Scottie Pippen jersey. Best $12 I have ever spent on Ebay. But I'm telling you I have a Pippen jersey because he was the best friend and best teammate anyone could have. Yes, Scottie was a sidekick for most of his career but he was also the sidekick to the greatest player to ever play the game. Joe Biden might not have the most stressful job but he's one move away from acquiring those nuclear codes. It's a big fucking deal. And the thing people forget about Pippen is that he was good. Like really, really, good. He wasn't some Mo Williams scrub trying to pad his stats next to Lebron. Scottie was one of the top 5 players during his era. Best rebounder, most underrated defensive player of all time, all while averaging 20 points during the 6 championship reign. He could guard your power forward in the paint then he'd come right back up the court and take Gary Payton to the hole from the point guard position. And those who doubted him were shut up when MJ retired and Pippen led the Bulls to a 55 win season and 1 game away from the eastern conference finals. What it all comes down to is MJ doesn't win 6 rings with anyone but Pippen. That's enough to show you what a high level caliber player we're talking about. Don't tell me he's not one of the best 15 players to ever play the game.
