Josh McDaniels has been fired as head coach of the Denver Broncos, the team confirmed Monday. Team spokesman Patrick Smyth told The Associated Press: "We can confirm that coach Josh McDaniels has been relieved of his head coaching duties." McDaniels, who was also the main person involved in player personnel decisions, took the job as head coach in 2009. He got off to a 6-0 start but the team has lost 17 of the past 20 games since then. The Broncos are 3-9 this season after their 10-6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday The team did not immediately name an interim coach. A week ago, Broncos owner Pat Bowlen said he was keeping McDaniels as a coach in 2011 and that there would be no change. These comments came after McDaniels was fined $50,000 because his videographer was caught taping a San Francisco 49ers walkthrough in London.
Wow. I've always liked McDaniels. Short, fiery guy who isn't afraid to go up against anyone. A dying breed if I do say so myself.
