The Red Sox are working behind the scenes on ways to bring free agent outfielder Carl Crawford to Boston, the Herald's Michael Silverman reports. Crawford will likely command an 8-year deal worth between $16 million and $19 million per season. Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com reports that the Red Sox spoke with Greg Genske, the agent for free agent outfielder Carl Crawford, last week. According to Ken Davidoff of Newsday, the Yankees will pursue Carl Crawford if they are unable to sign Cliff Lee.
I want Carl Crawford so bad it hurts. He's a 29 year old stud who played in a 150 games the past 2 seasons and chipped in with 90 RBI's and 47 stolen bases. That's a hell of a lot more than Jacoby Ellsbury did. And I'm happy with Jacoby in the outfield but you can't pass on the chance to sign a star caliber guy like Crawford and then maybe package Ellsbury in a deal for an Adrian Gonzalez or Prince Fielder.
