Avery Johnson and the New Jersey Nets agreed to terms today making him Mikhail Prokhorov's first big buy of the summer. The good news out of this deal? We never have to hear that annoying ass voice on ESPN again. Johnson broke into the scene when coaching the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA finals in 2006 (where they got their ass beat by one of my 3 boys: Julio, Escobar, and DWADE!!!) and also won NBA Coach of the Year in 2005. It seems Johnson was a third or fourth choice of the Nets after offers to KryzFUCKHEAD at Duke and ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy were turned down.
As bad as the Nets were last season, they still have potential. A great, young PG in Devon Harris and a blossoming C in Brook Lopez. While they'll be upset they won't land either John Wall or Evan Turner, a compilation prize of Derrick Favors certainly won't hurt their team. I've said earlier I don't think Bron Bron will be going to the Nets but they still have the money to sign a good player. Don't get me wrong, I'm not thinking the Nets will be in the playoffs next year, but Johnson could be taking the reigns of a decent team in a few years.
