EAST HARTFORD – The soon-to-be rebranded Connecticut Whale will face the Providence Bruins in an American Hockey League game on Feb. 19 at Rentschler Field, the team announced at a press conference Wednesday. The 7 p.m. game will be part of the Whalers Hockey Fest 2011, which will feature a series of outdoor games Feb. 11-20. It will be the second outdoor AHL game – the Syracuse and Binghamton will be played Feb. 20 at the New York State Fairgrounds. The Syracuse-Binghamton game drew a league record 21,508. Baldwin said he hopes attendance at the Whale-Bruins game breaks that record.
I know a couple guys in the HBMHL that could play if they need a little opening act. Pretty cool though. I feel like hockey should always be played outdoors but then I remember how miserable I get when the temperature drops below 40. Feb. 19th is a Saturday, too. Sounds like a good excuse to get the old blogging band back together and reunite at a Wolfpack game like old times. Except Sellberg. I don't think NSA will let him fly out of Tampa after his latest performance at UConn last weekend.
