CAPE TOWN, South Africa -- The United States will play England, Slovenia and Algeria in the first round of next year's World Cup in what appears to be a relatively easy group. The U.S. opens against England in Rustenburg on June 12, their first World Cup matchup since the Americans' 1-0 upset victory at the 1950 tournament in Brazil. The United States then plays Slovenia at Johannesburg's Ellis Park on June 18 and completes the first round on June 23 with its first-ever match against Algeria in Pretoria.
England? Really? People think England is going to give us trouble? Last I checked the best match-up for a bunch of slow, boring white guys is slow, boring white guys with a chip on their shoulder. Revolutionary War, anyone? So I like our chances as long as Jozy remembers that he's younger, faster, and blacker than everyone else out there. I'll go ahead and give us 2 wins against Algeria and Slovenia. Then, according to experts we would go on to play Germany. I don't really wanna go into that though because of my whole anti-europe thing I have might put the existence of this blog in jeopardy. We won't win the World Cup, obviously. But we won't lose it either.
