Apparently Rebecca Black Isn't a Millionaire From "Friday"

Yesterday I made a post about how Rebecca Black was already a millionaire from her song "Friday" based on a Forbes.com report. Forbes.com has recently corrected the article. Billboard posted a story today breaking down her earnings and although they aren't in the millions, she's apparently making about $25k per week which is basically like a million for a 13-year-old.
"So how many tracks is she selling? I'd estimate less than 40,000 in the U.S. last week and probably more this week. Here's why: On Tuesday morning, "Friday" ranged from #33 to #42 on iTunes and #95 at Amazon's MP3 store. For the sake of argument, let's say "Friday" is #42. In recent weeks, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the #42 overall track would have sold approximately 43,000 units. "Friday" was released on Tuesday, March 14.

Black appears to own the copyright to her sound recordings -- the label is listed as "2011 Rebecca Black" on iTunes and Amazon MP3 lists "2011 Rebecca Black" in the "copyright" field of the song page. And for distribution, it appears Black is using CD Baby, which takes a 9% commission. Finally, take out 9.1 cents per track for mechanical royalties to the music publisher ("Friday" was written by Ark Music Factory, according to media reports.).

Here's the math: 43,000 tracks at $0.70 cents to the artist minus a 9% distribution fee, minus 0.91 cents apiece for mechanical royalties equals $24,900.

She may be pulling in a bit more money from YouTube views if she had the foresight to set up a content partner agreement before she got 30 million views. If so, that could amount to $15,000 to $20,000 for her 33 million views."
In case you can't get enough of Rebecca Black and the company that made her song, Ark Music Factory, I present to you their next sensation - Alana Lee and her song "Butterflies".

It's amazing how many Grammys Ark Music Factory will be taking home next year.

Rebecca Black Already a Millionaire From "Friday"

Forbes.com is reporting that Rebecca Black's song "Friday" has already had over 2 million downloads on iTunes. Apple pays artists .70 cents per download which means Rebecca Black has made about $1.4 million dollars from the iTunes downloads alone. According to Forbes, she has also made $20,000 from all the YouTube views. This more than makes up for the $2,000 her mom paid Ark Music Factory to create the song. I think the moral of this story is that we should all save up $2,000 because anyone can become a music superstar.

I take back my earlier comment that she looks like Selena Gomez. Actually I don't take it back, I just want to edit it. She looks like a combination of Selena Gomez, Lea Michele, Demi Lovato and a horse. I guess I could just say: she looks like a combination of Selena Gomez, Lea Michele, Demi Lovato and Sarah Jessica Parker. Since I haven't posted the video yet here it is in all its future Grammy winning glory.

I wanted to like this song, I really did. I like being hip and talking to the kids on the street about what's cool. There were just certain things about this song that kept me from being able to like it. For starters, the fact that she's 13 and gets in a car with her 13 year old friends? That's crazy. Also, who's teaching kids these days that driving fast on the highway is a good idea? And do I even have to bring up the "partying, partying" that this 13 year old is doing? Other than that this song is pretty good.

Friday Daily Post - Lindsey Hohan, Justin Bieber & Katy Perry

So apparently the only way Lindsey Lohan can make the news now a days is by being a complete drunk fool. After leaving a club last night, Lindsey was recorded falling flat on her face. Boy, don't you wish you could see that?

I mean really, does anyone even care about this chick anymore? She was such a cute little girl in The Parent Trap, a babe in Mean Girls, and now she's a coked out whore? She needs to figure out nobody cares about her anymore and just get a job working at McDonald's.

In case anyone missed it, yesterday was April Fools and Funny or Die decided to tell people that Justin Bieber bought their site and renamed it Bieber or Die. They made 11 pretty hilarious videos with him - check them out here http://www.funnyordie.com/justin_bieber/videos. Does anyone else think he looks like a lesbian? He seems to be everywhere these days and was on Chelsea Lately last night. In case you happen to be one of the bazillion people obsessed with him right now, the interview is below.

Finally we will leave you with this - Katy Perry gets slimed at the Kids Choice Awards last Saturday.
