Avery Johnson Clearly Loves White Billionaires

Avery Johnson and the New Jersey Nets agreed to terms today making him Mikhail Prokhorov's first big buy of the summer. The good news out of this deal? We never have to hear that annoying ass voice on ESPN again. Johnson broke into the scene when coaching the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA finals in 2006 (where they got their ass beat by one of my 3 boys: Julio, Escobar, and DWADE!!!) and also won NBA Coach of the Year in 2005. It seems Johnson was a third or fourth choice of the Nets after offers to KryzFUCKHEAD at Duke and ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy were turned down.

As bad as the Nets were last season, they still have potential. A great, young PG in Devon Harris and a blossoming C in Brook Lopez. While they'll be upset they won't land either John Wall or Evan Turner, a compilation prize of Derrick Favors certainly won't hurt their team. I've said earlier I don't think Bron Bron will be going to the Nets but they still have the money to sign a good player. Don't get me wrong, I'm not thinking the Nets will be in the playoffs next year, but Johnson could be taking the reigns of a decent team in a few years.

The New Nets Owner Is A Little Bit Money

Mikhail Prokhorov, the man who recently bought the New Jersey Nets, not only has a lot of money but he also is a little bit money. Not only is he 6'8" but he is sort of the man. In January 2007 he flew 8 Russian models to a French ski resort to party and the French thought he was trying to smuggle prostitutes into the country. His business partner suggested he sell his share of his company before the negative publicity hit and he did just that, to the tune of 10 billion doll-hairs. Two months later "the international crisis devastated the Russian stock markets". Never has bringing 8 models on a ski trip been so profitable. When asked if he can turn the Nets from the worst team in the league to the best he replied "In the Frank Sinatra song "New York, New York" 'if I can make it there, I can make it anywhere'". Do you think he knows Jay-Z is part owner of his new team and tried to get some brownie points by dropping a line that Jay quotes in his Empire State of Mind song? Steve Kroft asked him about all the women he hangs out with and why he hasn't married one and Prokhorov said he hasn't found a woman who can cook well enough to marry. What a badass. Check out the interview below.
